Policy and guidelines for grants

 

Who is eligible to apply for a grant

• Individuals, Czech and non-Czech

• Corporations

 

Supported sphere

The Foundation awards grants to support research and publications in the areas of scientific and social development, and for works relating to the history, philosophy and impact of the Bata company.

 

Restrictions

• Grants are for a maximum of CZK 50,000 and are paid in a single instalment;

• The grant may cover up to 100% of the total project costs;

• The maximum project length is one year.

• The Foundation does not award scholarships.

 

Contractual Terms for Provision of Grants

The successful applicant will be required to sign a Grant Allotment Agreement with the Foundation with the following conditions:

• At the conclusion of the project, the applicant must submit a final report to the Foundation and provide final accounts

• The contract contains further terms and conditions for the obligatory end-purpose use of the grants, the presentation of current or final reports and the provision of instalments.

 

Project Assessment Criteria

Benefit

• Topical focus of the project and the benefit brought to that particular sphere

• Importance of the issue, solution methods, expected results and impact on a target group and the public

• Benefits for societal development.

 

Contents and Formal Elaboration

• Comprehensibility, lucidity, cogency

• Formulation of aims and target group specification

• Explicitness of an intended plan and its relation to engaged personnel and time schedule.

 

Finance

• Adequacy, efficiency, reasonableness and justifiability of the budge;

• Potential financial participation by other sponsors, confirmation of other financial resources

• Confirmation of other financial resources required

• Applicant’s existing experience and financial integrity, evidenced by appropriate documents

• Author’s competency

• Cooperation with local administrative bodies and other parties, recommendations for and opinions on the project.

 

Grounds for refusal

• The proposed project is ideologically focused, or is of a political nature

• The application does not correspond with the supported issue

• The information provided in the application is insufficient for assessment

• The requested sum exceeds the maximum permitted amount (CZK 50,000).

 

 

 

Grant Application Procedure
Applications must include:

• The name and contact details of the applicant

• The applicant's curriculum vitae and letters of reference to support his/her experience and competence in the field in question and successful completion of any prior projects of a similar nature

• The title of the proposed project, and a detailed description including an outline, objectives and implementation plan

• A budget detailing the total cost of the project and the amount being requested from the Foundation.

 

Applications may be delivered to the Foundation at the address below by hand, by email or by post.
Projects are judged by the Foundation's Board of Directors, and approved by the Foundation's Supervisory Board.
